Disassembly

The following illustration is an exploded view of the strut.

Item Description 1 Shock Absorber Nut 2 Strut Mounting Block 3 Upper Rubber Spring Seat 4 Dust Boot 5 Bump Stopper 6 Coil Spring 7 Lower Rubber Spring Seat 8 Shock Absorber

Tool Required:

• MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor, D85P-7178-A

1. Remove the rear strut from the vehicle.
2. Secure the strut in MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor D85P-7178-A or equivalent.

   

3. Compress the coil spring and remove the shock absorber nut from the strut.
4. Remove the shock absorber.

Assembly

CAUTION: Verify that the lower coil of the spring is seated on the step of the lower seat.

1. Position the shock absorber in the compressed coil spring.

   

2. Install the shock absorber nut. Tighten the shock absorber nut to 89-117 N-m (66-87 lb-ft).
3. Release the spring compressor and remove the strut.
4. Install the strut in the vehicle.
